  What have Jehovah's Witnesses made known?

  after a century of preaching and selling literaturature what do people know about the jw's message.

  they don't take blood transfusions.

  they don't celebrate birthdays.

  They have made known that they believe that the world could end within an unknown period of time in the future. If you want to be confident that you might survive then you need to do and believe everything the WTS tells you.

  nicely put... because that's the exact answer you will get when discussing witness beliefs with a witness. legally, they have to be vague. they have no assurance of salvation because they mock the born-agains for this. they may claim to question and even do research on what they read in the watchtower, but the only research they do is in other watchtower or watchtower-related material.

  my father showed me a watchtower, i thing it was feb 1st 2006. the last sentence of the first article said something like the reader could live to see god's judgement.

  well don't they have insight! they really don't seem to understand that other if not ALL other major religions believe in some kind of "end of the world"/apocalypse/armageddon... so what is so insightful about that comment? why do they think they have any special knowledge just because a statement like that is made?

  it's been imminent for 2000 years now... just shut up and if/when it happens, if F-ing happens.

  Home from Circuit Assembly

  as some of you knew, my circuit assembly was this weekend (dec 24 and 25).

  the theme was "clothe yourselves with the new personality".

  i guess the society has to reinforce the idea of humility, because apparently, you can't mislead haughty people.. from the sound of the accounts report, people are voting with their wallets.. nothing particularly egregrious was said.. luckily my mother had a fever this morning, so we got to leave at lunch.

  the kids were sleeping, and one brother came up to me "is there a microphone on thats picking up some loud noise"?..

  i said "all mikes are off except for the stage".

  he said "there's gotta be something because the noise is annoying!".

  anything that detracts from the wonderful spiritual banquet will be taken care of as swiftly as possible. anything from apostates to loud children... if it detracts from the message, then it must be eliminated.

  Blood Card - Why Bother??

  just finished reading the big news essay....gotta read it again because i'm so ticked off i probably missed a few points.

  the bottom line that i get from this is that a witness can take blood and it is totally a conscious matter and has been for years!!!

  no matter how you cut it, if you can take particles a/b/c/d/e/f/ from blood you might as well take the whole thing.

  holy spirit and JW's... are they way off or what???

  i remember a talk about 10 years ago about how we were not supposed to pray for a "portion" of holy spirit... and that, even though it is not a person and it's just his active force, it's not distributed in portions... you either have it or you don't.

  but i notice a lot of witnesses still pray to god and ask for a portion of his holy spirit.

  i find this very offensive and ignorant... anybody else notice this and how i can approach a jw about the proper way to pray about this matter???.

  JW's 'tattling' on each other - an ugly culture.

  when i was an elder i often was approached by publishers who wanted to report some kind of bad conduct by a brother or sister.

  this led to all kinds of unpleasant, unloving situations.

  the first question of the accused was always "who told you this?

  it's partly a way to gossip, partly a way for jealous people to spread "truth" about people they don't like, and partly because we were always told that if we didn't rat on them we were sharing in their sins and then punishment.

  i'm glad that i can look back and say that i never ratted on anyone... my mother says that's part of why i lost jehovah's holy spirit but at least i kept my f'n nose clean!

  this was a post in the "friends" section but i think it's important and a really good idea.. but it's gonna get washed away by other topics... .

  how about every lurker on here and all others spreading the news that unhappy jw's worldwide are to do a general boycott of all jw related activities (meetings, fs, etc) in for the entire month of february 2006. would be interesting to see what happens to the us average publishers for that month... come on just be irregular for one month!.

  If you are still going to meetings and decided to boycott any JW activities you could conceivably be "outted" The WTS will have a heads up about it and could be on the outlook for posters here that don't show up for a month.

  nah i dont think it would be that obvious... you could just say you're busy with work etc...

  You may want to change your invitation for the ladies. The last time I was irregular for one month I got a surprise about 8 months later.

  can you explain that to me when i'm older? ;)
